If you don't currently have an "igoogle" account, set one up. Record your user name and password in a Word document and save it as Log_on_information; you'll need it before posting to the blog.
We’ll be using this site for teacher-to-student communication as well as student-to-student communication. My goal is to do at least one blog post per week. Generally I will post on Monday and you have until Friday to complete the weekly blog by leaving a comment. Many of you may have your own personal blogs on MySpace or similar sites. For those of you who have never used a blog, this will give you some experience. Before we get started we’ll have to set some ground rules.
First of all, all postings to this site must use school appropriate language. When you post, write in complete sentences. Key your first and last name at the end of your post so I know who's post it. When commenting on another student’s post, keep your comments non-personal. You can agree or disagree with a comment but refrain from sarcasm and/or put-downs. State your position on the issue at hand and why you feel that way.
Your first assignment: Tell me a little about yourself. Your family, friends and things you enjoy doing. Have you ever blogged before?
Your second assignment:
Who is your "hero" and what makes that person special to you? To complete this task just click the comment (one line down to the right - use your igoogle account in the drop down list).

Yes, I have blogged before, but it wasn't much, I'd rather write down things in paper that on the internet. If I had to choose a hero, it would probably be Neil Gaiman, Tim Burton or Helena Bonham Carter, because all three of those people create stories, and movies that show everything from a more melancholy perspective; which in my opinion is better because as children we are told that stories usually have happy endings, and in real life they rarely do, so why pretend?

My article is about cell phones. Fifteen years ago most did not know what a mobile phone was or how it was even used. Today though, everywhere you go, just about everyone has a cell phone. Back then, a cell phone was just to make phone calls, but now they are used for taking pictures, inter net, texting, playing games, etc. It just goes to show that our technology couldn't get any better.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has changed a lot over the last couple of years. One thing that has changed is the difference of the size and capacity of modern day chips compared to a chip from a couple of years ago. They have gotten smaller but can hold more information. One example of this change is the iphone. It is a small device but can hold a lot of information at one time. These chips will only get better through the years and will help in the future.

The article that I read about was who created the internet? Many would have no clue, but it was more than just one person. But the main person who created was Timothy Berners-Lee. He had the original idea for having two computers linked together to share data. they were linking SATNET, PRNET and ARPANET in a path leading from Menlo Park, CA to University College London and back to USC/ISI in Marina del Rey, CA.

The article I wrote about was voice-activated software. In recent months, researchers say voice-activated software has been on the rise. Mobile voice-recognition technology now allows people to send text messages to friends by talking instead of typing. The longer the computers listen to us talk, the more accurate they will be in predicting what we’re going to say. It is about 80 to 90 percent accurate. The problems are that no two people speak alike, that some people have accents, and that it’d be hard to understand what we’re saying in a noisy area like a bus.

Technology
ReplyDeleteWow, people seem to be coming up with everything nowadays. I just read an article about a new kind of phone that "runs on blood", which sounds kinda gross, but is actually pretty cool. All this new phone is, is a touch screen that is embedded under the skin, and the numbers are tattooed atop the skin. There are two small tubes that attach to a vein, and an artery, and your blood would "flow into a coin-sized blood fuel cell that converts glucose and oxygen to electricity ".Apparently there are no plans for commercialization yet, but you have to admit, it would be wicked awesome. The article also said that this would offer health benefits because you blood could be screened more often. This article is definitely something to read about.

The article I wrote on was about Japanese cellphones and how they are not global. Japan's smartphones are ready for Internet and e-mail, they double as credit cards, boarding passes and even body-fat calculators. The aticle tells you how they are working on making the cellphones global.

technology is always changing bigger n smaller... technology makes life easier... it makes things better n useful.
ReplyDeleteMy article is about how scientists are trying to make invisibility coats in 3-D reality. The basis of the design is known as a carpet cloak. They created photonic metamaterial that influenced the behavior of light rays. Devices have previously have been able to hide light traveling in one direction to cause an image to “disappear” or “hide”. This is just the first step in creating a true invisibility cloak.
ReplyDeleteIs "using your voice" going to become the new texting? Ever since the 1970's people have fantasized about being able to communicate with computers or other various sorts of technology. This has already been around for a few years now but, there is a new way to use your voice to text.
ReplyDeleteAdults with "big fingers or hands" are getting very frustrated with their choice in phone. An example of this would be the smart phone. They have very small screens and/or touch screens which can make you mad when your phone clicks on something that you didn't click.
Because of this there is now a new way to get less frustrated. You can now have a phone installed in your car which allows you to keep your eyes on the road when driving and you can talk to your friends at the same time.

AT&T's ZERO Charger Eliminates "Vampire Draw"
ReplyDeleteI found this article at gizmag.com. Mainly, this article focuses on cutting down the amount of unused power sucked out of mains. The charger automatically detects when it is not needed and switches itself off to save the power. The charger even shuts off when it's not in use. Leaving chargers plugged into an outlet can use 5 to 20 times more energy than AT&T's new charger. Studies show that 277 million people use regular charger. The charger will become available. The charger is so environmentally conscience that it is even encased in recycled packaging.
TECHNOLOGY
ReplyDeleteTechnology is the usage knowledge of tools, techniques and crafts, or is the system or methods of organization or is material product. The word technology comes from the Greek word technologia, the study of something or the branch of knowledge and discipline. Technologies affect humans as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural enviroments. The human species use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. Technology has affected society and its surroundings in many ways. In many societies technology has helped developed more advanced economies and has allowed the rise of a leisure class.

ReplyDeleteThe article I reviewed was "Rush is on to be first in i pad apps." This article basically told me how Apple is coming out with new and better technology, such as the device the i pad. In this article they reviewed the pros and cons of the growing speed of newer technology. It also explains the break through of how easier and simpler Apple's products are for our own benefit. It mentioned the exciting things that are offered on the i pad like, downloading a book, or playing a virtual game with the family. Others feel that this may be the reason of corrupting the youth. Will everything be related to technology as the years progress? Apple seems to be starting a break through in the technology world today by taking that one step towards creating more efficient ways of technology such as the newly made i pad.

The article I read was about how NASA and General Motors(GM) teamed up to create a better robot. The robot is called Robonaut2 or R2 for short. R2 can assist astronauts in space and also on earth. This robot is better then the older robot because this one is a faster, more dexterous robot. It has the lasest sensor and vison technologies and the robot has better hands then the old ones. GM will use the robot to help build better and safer cars in their factories, while NASA will use them for helping humans in space.

the article i read was about cell phones. They are packed with 32 megabytes of memory, a 144-megahertz processor, a thumb keyboard, and a 1.8-inch color screen, these devices come loaded with Palm organizer software and a Blazer Web browser. Users can read and send e-mail. with all this inside the phone you can take pictures too.

Technology has influenced society in many ways. Technology has help develop more advanced economies. New creations of technology have spread pollution throughout the world. This statement has lead people to think, does technology improve human condition, or worsen it?
