My dad is a quality manager at Robert Bosh LLC. He took four years of college in engineering. His main job is to interview project teams and find out the flaws and weaknesses of the project. Then he will report back to upper managements. The thing he likes about his job is that he can interact with others. The thing he dislikes about his job is writing reports. Overall he is pretty happy with his job. He has never had a different job after college. He is paid by salary and he does not get overtime pay. He works around 45 hours a week.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a fiscal officer for the Asian Resource center. She took four years of accounting in college. Her job is to do people’s payrolls on the computer. The thing she likes about this job is that she gets to work at home. The thing she does not like about this job is that she has to be accurate and the job is long and time consuming. My mom does not really like the job though. She said that what she would do differently is that she would take five years of college in the pharmaceutical field. She has always had the same job after college. She is paid hourly and also gets no overtime pay. She usually works 5 hours a week.
I learned form my interview with my parents is that you should find a job you like. Don't find one you don't really like, because if you do, you will go to work every day unahppy. But you will need to find a job that also will pay you well enough so that you can take care of your family and yourself. Also I learned that you have to study real hard in school. So then you can get into a good college. Which will then give you an advantage over others compeiting for the job. If the others don't have a college degree or they see you went to a better college, you will probally have a good chance of getting the job.

ReplyDeleteReviewing the questions I asked my parents I found that they chose a job to go into due to something that they enjoy doing and excel in. My dad is an entrepreneur and has his own business where he had three patents on a composite he made out of wood and plastic. For most of his life he has always been interested in manufacturing. As for my mom, she has also been interested in teaching for as long as she can remember. Today, her profession is a teacher. Both my parents picked a job that they enjoy doing; this enlightens me to find a job where I can have fun while working at the same time.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have found, both members of my family have tried different things because they didn't know exactly what they wanted to do, and sometimes it takes awhile to really know what you like. With any job, you can be taught what you need to know, but it's not even close to what it would be when you actually need this information, like for my aunt, she's a firefighter, you can be taught what to do in a fire, but it's completely different when it's actually happening. Both have showed me that you never stop learning, no matter how old you get, and that being able to find information quickly and efficiently is very important. Both my aunt and my grandpa have worked very hard to get to their positions, you can't just walk into a job and expect to get the highest up position, you have to work hard. Finally, both enjoy their job, even though things don't always go the way they should, it's that when they come home at the end of the day, they are happy, and that's all that really matters.
ReplyDeleteI learned that going to school for a career may not always be what you will follow through on being your whole life. Like my mom for example. She was going to be a teacher for any grade but she didn't like the way kids treated her, rudely, so she quit and worked at First Energy then Davis Besse.
ReplyDeleteWhat I learned from interviewing my parents was that they both really enjoy what they do for a living. My dad is a general manager at an environmental company and my mom works as a costumer service representative. My parents both work relatively the same working hours. I didn't know that my parents both have had the same type of job since finishing their education. I also didn't know that my dad started a new company after quitting his old job. It is weird that my parents have the two most opposite jobs.
ReplyDeleteI learned from my Dad's interview that he does something new everyday in his job. My dad is happy with his job and has been happy with his job for the past 27 years. But one thing my dad does not like doing is asking his customers when they are going to get paid. With my Mom i learned that it isnt so easy just watching my little cousins daily and getting paid for it. She told me that everyday will always be a difficult day depending the kids attitude or behavior. But she does love watching my little cousins.
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot interviewing my parents. The thing that stood out to me most about my dad's interview was how much he went to school to become an orthodontist. I knew he worked really hard but see 10 years of school on paper seems very long. It was also cool to learn about the transition my mom made from teacher to working as my dad's marketer. I'm glad that she made that transition because it benefits our family. I'm really glad that my dad loves what he does, especially since what he does is a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteI learned alot about jobs. I learned that the people you work with help shape your idea of the job. If you don't like your coworkers, you probobly won't like your job. I also learned how overtime pay is calculated.
